Sri Lanka is a semi-presidential system that is based upon their constitution. The government is controlled by the Sri Lanka Freedom party and the United National Party. The Sri Lanka Freedom Party came to power in 1956 and is described as having a democratic socialist perspective. The United National Party on the other hand is more of a right leaning party, supportive of capitalist policies. This party came into control in 2015.
