7x - 2 = 6x - 2x

7x - 2 = 4x

- 2 = 4x - 7x

-2 = -3x

-2 / -3 = x

2/3 = x

step 1: put all numbers with an x attached on one side, and all the numerical numbers (without a variable) on the other
step 2: simplify, add all those that are the same (ex: 3x + 2x, 5+ 5) 
step 3: divide
step 4: you have your x
