When the United States was fighting in Vietnam they were only fighting the Vietcong, they rarely far north Vietnam. And the fact of the matter is the United States had moved troops out of Vietnam when Nixon was inaugurated as our president in 1968. Without our troops there, North Vietnam and the Vietcong were able to take over all of Vietnam by 1975.
