The axis of symmetry in this parabola is an "x=" equation, since our parabola is an upwards-opening one.  Our parabola has an a value of 1, a b value of 4, and a c value of -6.  Fitting our values into the shortcut way to find the axis of symmetry, we have [tex]x= \frac{-4}{(2)(1)} [/tex].  So x = -2.
