explain why cells dont just contuinue to grow larger as organisms grow larger. why do cells divide?

The reason that cells divide is that at a certain point the functions that the organelles of the cells serve cannot be done once the cell reaches a certain size.For example it would be harder for nutrients, food and waste to passed around the cell efficiently if the surface area of a cell was larger.

There are 2 possible answers;
A. Smaller cells use nutrients more efficiently. No wasted space etc. It's easier to live small.
